Interpretive signage is a broad term used to describe signage that engages the visitor and connects them to their surrounding landscape through photographs, stories, history or maps. Terrain Group were engaged by GROUP GSA to supply and deliver interpretive signage for the township of Warragul. Lying 100km east southeast of Melbourne between the Strzelecki Ranges and the Mount Baw Baw Plateau of the Great Dividing Grange, Warragul is steeped in first nations and colonial history. The name Warragul is named after the Aboriginal word meaning “wild dog”.

Given sketches of the concept by GROUP GSA, Terrain Group had shop drawings created and supplied them with artwork, of the custom made, mild steel pedestal signs. The preferred finish was naturally weathered steel, with an aluminium vinyl wrap signage piece affixed in-house by Terrain, to the display pane of the sign.

The result is a series of great looking, rustic signs with a modern edge, which help to tell the history of the area for visitors to the township.
