Woodville Primary Restorative Bench

Location Woodville Primary School, SA
Sector Community, Custom

As part of a community initiative by Woodville Primary School, Terrain Group and the student body worked together in developing a ‘restorative bench’.

The restorative bench is a concept initiated by Wendy Jolley, Student Wellbeing Leader, and was installed with the purpose to help students work through – social conflict, friendship issues, disagreements, and misunderstandings.

Student leaders came up with 5 questions to assist in working through the various areas. This included:

What happened?
What were you thinking about at the time?
What have you thought about since?
What has been affected and in what way?
What do you need to do to make things right?

The students visited Terrain Group Head Office and worked with Jayne Selby, Operations Manager of Terrain Group, to choose colours and finishes.

Terrain Group delivered and installed the Access Table Setting free of charge. The access table setting is made of four thick extruded aluminium planks allowing for the seating to be used at any time of the day regardless of external temperatures.

Terrain Group also created and installed 5 plaques outlining each question

A ceremony was held inviting the local Mayor, dignitaries, and Terrain Group to join in celebrating the opening of the restorative bench.

Thank you to Kirsty Maclean, Principal of Woodville Primary School for inviting Terrain Group to your beautiful school and for initiating such a great initiative.

Looking forward to seeing the bench resolve issues and bringing a smile to the student’s faces!
