Goolwa Wharf Restroom Precinct Revitalisation

Location Goolwa, SA
Sector Community, Custom, Restroom

In October 2024, the Goolwa Wharf Precinct in South Australia was completed as part of the Goolwa community’s masterplan.

The project was funded by the Australian Government and the Government of South Australia, and aimed to restore and enhance the historic precinct into an engaging destination for locals and tourists. Key upgrades included refurbishments to the Wharf Shed, the Signal Point Experience Centre, and surrounding infrastructure including adding a new public restroom facility.

Harmonising Contemporary Design with Historical Elements

Terrain Group collaborated with the local council to design a restroom that would complement the surrounding aesthetics. This included customising the external cladding in Colorbond material and selecting a gable roof design to blend in with the adjacent re-furbishment of the existing Goolwa Wharf Shed built in 1872*. Ongoing consultations ensured the structure and appearance were seamlessly integrated into the surroundings.
